  • Local → ECTS: national band tables (estimates)
  • ECTS → local: reverse range for the selected preset
  • Legacy cohort: A top 10%, B 25%, C 30%, D 25%, E 10% of passers
  • Credits: 60 ECTS/year; LV 1 kp = 1.5 ECTS; ~2 ECTS ≈ 1 US credit

How it is calculated

  1. Choose a local grading preset (generic %, DE, IT, ES, Latvia, …).
  2. Pick mode: local→ECTS, ECTS→local (+ optional WES-style US letter), or legacy percentile.
  3. Enter the grade / letter / percentile and read the estimate — not an official transcript.

Questions

Why is ECTS “estimated”?

Original ECTS letters compare you to your cohort. The 2015 Users’ Guide replaced fixed A–E ranking with grade distribution tables. National fixed tables (including Latvia’s as one preset) are convenient approximations for mobility paperwork.

How do ECTS credits relate to grades?

They don’t. 60 ECTS/year measures workload. Grade letters are separate. Legacy Latvian kp: 1 kp = 1.5 ECTS. US exchange often uses ~2 ECTS ≈ 1 semester credit.
